light at the end (of the day)

he saw it. he always does. that's right. puxatony phil's shadow tricked him again.
so, as a result, we got tricked as well and learned that we have 6 more weeks of winter (northern vermont thanks you for that, phil) but, for some reason it didn't feel so bad. because today you could see the end of that long dark tunnel...

i have always said with certainty that winter would be fine for me, enjoyable even, if it wasn't for the darkness. the long dark tunnel that starts at election day and lasts well into the new year. but, i suppose, if you didn't have the dark tunnel, you wouldn't have days like today...when the sunshine at 5pm is just enough to remind you that yes, in fact, spring is on its way. 6-12 weeks from now.

so phil, it's ok. i'm not mad. 'cause you know what? seeing your shadow means the sun was shining, and that makes all the difference.

Hi Kate,

Just wanted to say hi. I know what you mean about those dark days of winter. At least the days are getting longer, and the sun seems to be out more. I always think of how easy we are to please this time of year! Thanks so much for the plug on your current blog obsessions. I'm honored!
